When growing up, I always admired other kids' costumes for Halloween, because they seemed very authentic and pretty. I saw kids dressed in the usual superhero costumes, but also other kids being dressed as Pocahontas or other Native Americans or in saari, or with the Mexican poncho. I thought there was no problem with them, but now I realize that this way of dressing up was offensive to the respective cultures, enforces stereotypes and is politically incorrect due to the oppressive history associated with them. What do you think about this? Is it okay, especially for white people, to dress this way by using the elements of other cultures?
