    Synthetic Marijuana

    in Drugs

In the discussion of federal decriminalization of marijuana, the issue of synthetic cannabinoids are rarely brought up. Approved by the DEA, synthetic cannabinoids have chemicals which interact with the brain similarly to THC, the main ingredient in cannabis. Yet there are more dangers (paranoia, vomiting, anxiety, nausea) and reported overdoses. What do you think? Why is one approved but the other isn't?

It's interesting that synthetic cannabinoids are rarely brought up, especially given that they're considered to be more dangerous. One reason why they might be approved is because less people know about them as compared to normal marijuana, as well as because, as the article state, there's no one clear composition to the drug, which makes it more difficult to identify.
