Can nuclear energy be the response to solve Climate Change?

I believe that nuclear energy is a great solution to reduce the burn of hydrocarbons and the production of CO2. With little of uranium a nuclear plant can provide electricity to thousands. For example, 80% of France's electricity comes from 59 installed and highly supervised nuclear plants, also 30% of electricity that the population of Japan consumes comes from this same form of energy.

I just read an article about this, actually! Nuclear power can really help reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, but one of the major roadblocks to wide scale development is its perceived danger.
