Girl empowerment is one of my greatest passions! I've used Girl Up, a UN campaign that empowers girls to become leaders, as my conduit for change. As president of the Girl Up club at my school I've been able to fundraise, advocate, and support disadvantaged girls across the world. If you're a high school or college aged girl who is looking for a way to make change I highly encourage you check out this organization @ girlup.org. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me! As leader of Girl Up I have begun to discover girls are more disadvanted in ways that I found it hard to conceive of. Girls in other countries lack access to things that I've always taken for granted. For example, many girls in third world countries don't have access to feminine hygiene products. This endangers girls who are subjected to unsanitary health conditions while they menstrate.
Thanks for the great opportunity! GirlUp is definitely a great organization to get involved in. In addition, I highly recommend that any any high school or college-aged girls also look at the Day of The Girl-US Action Team and their toolkits for more opportunities.
