Germany and the AfD

Angela Merkel recently was re-elected to her fourth term in Germany. However, her bloc has, according to BBC, "received its worst result in almost 70 years." Without the support of their current coalition partners, the Social Democrats, the AfD has the next most votes (12.6%), a party that vows to fight the 'invasion of foreigners'.

What are your thoughts and reactions to the recent election? Which coalition do you believe will form?

Currently the economic and numismatic situation in Greece is tremendously deplorable. The substantive amounts of refugees have culminated in the chaos that has ubiquitously existed after the bailout referendum. Unemployment has risen to 21%, one of the highest figures in Europe. The national debt of Greece places the country in second position worldwide. And regardless of the wage levels, approximately 60% of the gross pay is removed due to extreme income taxes. The prime minister has essentially no diplomatic attitude and has further contributed to the economic crisis that plagues the state. Despite of all the benefits of being a member of the EU, Greece decided to not accept the Troika help, which would possibly assist them in paying any of their debts, while Grexit almost happened. Tax evasion continues to exponentially proliferate, while social welfare is at its lowest. Myriads of people starve, education is limited and work positions have ceased to develop.

In the Rakhine state of Myanmar, there has been an ongoing humanitarian crisis with the military conducting a mass deportation and extermination of the Rohingyan Muslim minority under the rule of Aung San Suu Kyi. Multiple human rights organizations have called it a genocide; while Myanmar has refused to give the UN access to the current crisis, thousands of Rohingyan refugees have witnessed the atrocities that have happened on their flight to the Burmese border. Although the Myanmar government and military have been criticized countless times, refugees are still tortured and killed every day. What are some steps that the international community can take in order to prevent the exacerbation of this crisis?
