Cases of those presidents who are elected to reign for longer in Africa. In Africa, current presidents have been serving for over 20 years with some that are campaigning for the upcoming elections. What are your thoughts about the persistent tendency of African leaders to stay on power and the citizens to vote for them. The democratized dictatorship in Africa:
I strongly believe in the practice of term limits. Even if a certain president is following democratic values, the executive should not feel entitled to having a concentration of power. Career politicians often fall into practices of corruption (e.g. influenced by certain corporations or interest groups to an unhealthy extent), or if not corruption, are less likely to consider and develop new ideas and polices.
I agree with Rachna but less is done to those who commit such crimes. In Kenya, a former Cabinet Minister stole billions of money and nothing has been done to her and yet she is vying to be Governor. The government ends up not being democratic and there is nothing the citizens can do about it.
