Venezuela has recently been facing political and economic destabilization, beginning perhaps with Maduro's 2014 election after the death of the highly charismatic Chavez. Political protests, violence, and riots are commonplace today due to an economic emergency (e.g. hyperinflation, corruption). While the country has been said to have the largest potential of oil reserves, social unrest rather than economic prosperity currently characterizes the state.
I'd love to hear your guys' opinions about the situation in Venezuela, as I personally am not too informed about what is currently happening, but would like to be.
Interesting look at some of the more recent protests - http://www.newyorker.com/culture/photo-booth/the-masks-in-venezuela-and-the-pathos-of-protest-art?mbid=nl_170513_Daily&CNDID=48576140&spMailingID=11013068&spUserID=MTc3NjE3NDEyOTk3S0&spJobID=1161081428&spReportId=MTE2MTA4MTQyOAS2
