    It's Everywhere

Is politics in academia truly inevitable? Is the relationship between politics and academia, whether it be formal or informal in your community and country, a relationship that will always exist? Should it exist, in your opinion?

As a high school student, I appreciate when my teachers are transparent about their political beliefs, especially in my history courses, as it helps me better understand their interpretations of the past. There is nothing inherently wrong with being partisan. However, there is a fine line between expressing your opinion and framing your opinion as fact. I have a close friend in AL whose AP Government & Politics teacher is notorious for indoctrinating his students with his own anarchist/ultra-Christian ideology. He, like all teachers, are entitled to their thoughts and opinions, but students not yet in college are generally quick to believe the things their teachers tell them in their entirety. That is all the more reason to promote critical thinking and debate within schools.
