More than a quarter of elderly at risk of poverty

The recent survey shows, more than a quarter of those aged 65 and over are at risk of poverty or social exclusion, the highest in a decade!

As a comeback Finance Minister Edward Scicluna announced in the Budget last week that all pensioners, whether on a contributory or non-contributory pension, would get a flat €2 weekly increase. Now that is what rest of the world is supposed to take inspiration from and must understand the urgency of adressing the issue!

The effect of poverty on older adults is quite grim and it really can't be ignored. Do you believe that the weekly increase will help?

I can't get your point Ma'am but if you are talking about taking a notice of weekly increase in the effect of this plight and then compiling the data for analysis , then its a great idea even a monthly observation could prove to be enough!

What have been the effects of the policy so far?
