One of the major Sustainable Development Goals is poverty alleviation. As an aware and responsible global citizen, can you share some of the projects or initiatives that you have carried in your communities, schools or colleges to tackle this issue? Or perhaps a campaign that tackles another sustainable development goal but indirectly aids in eliminating poverty too?
Let us use this forum to enforce the need for change, and celebrate the small steps we all have taken to tackle a larger cause!
The best initiative that I've seen in my community recently has been raising money to fund birth labor kits for pregnant women in impoverished countries. I believe that many people, though with good intentions, throw their money into large scale organizations without be able to see the results. Funding for smaller, specific initiatives I believe is a better motivation to those who want to make a difference.
Few of my friends started an organization in 2015. They wanted to channelize excess food to the underprivileged who cannot afford daily meals. They put their entrepreneurial skills to use and thought of a way to build a bridge between surplus food at restaurants, weddings, and households, that is usually thrown away, and give it to families living in slums of Lahore.
