    Privacy in the 21st century

    Hi fellow ambassadors!

Living in an age of growing technological advancements aimed at enhancing security and surveillance, it becomes more difficult to manage how personal data is collected. An important question to consider is whether community standards believe that privacy or utilitarian data collection is more effective. For example, surveillance cameras record customers at stores for security reasons; for the most part, it seems as though there is an inherent contract that we live by whenever we step into a public setting. Other biometric technologies include fingerprint data collection, voice recognition, and even genetic testing, which we seem to be pushing forward.

I think it's rather interesting to understand how different nations view privacy and surveillance. For example, in China, privacy is pretty much all gone in urban areas. The government in China is slowly but surely implemently a variety of new technological ways of tracking the public, and in the 21st century, I think our privacy will only decrease as we move forward. Hopefully, we can still have some free terrain, but I'm not very optimistic.
