Current US Education secretary is evidently supporting policies that favor charter schools over the traditional American public school system. However, privatizing a previously government-dominated institution brings its own question. Religion is an example. Is it constitutional for charter school (who by definition recieve government funding) to have a religious disposition?

I think it depends on what they use the government funding for - for religious classes/services or for secular materials (e.g. algebra textbooks).
