The U.S. has had a contentious position in the Middle East since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and it continues to in Syria. Since 2001, U.S. has overthrown regimes in the name of ending Islamic terror, yet in Syria the U.S. is willing to side with the rebels, even though many of them are jihadists. According to the Nation, the U.S. had a "counterproductive, unaccountable, and immoral CIA 'train and equip' program " for fundamentalists rebels. This situation gets more complicated when you factor in the Pentagon. According to the LA Times, a Pentagon-backed militia attacked a CIA-backed one outside of Aleppo. As it seems, America's incoherent stance is not helping in alleviating tensions in the country. What do you think?
