Don't doubt it, Do something about it
Many consider these overrated phrases - global warming, sea levels rising et cetera. The current polarization of the two major political parties has left America's democracy in turmoil and has made its inner workings fundamentally dysfunctional. The logic is simple - hard facts cannot be refuted. The science that is telling us we are the first and last generation to do something about the state of the earth and the fact that centuries of human development will be undermined by crises in the next half century belongs to no political party. To be ignoring climate change is foolish, baseless and selfish. At the same time, we cannot put thousands of steel and coal workers out of jobs within a day. Ambitious plans and a commitment to integration, such as transitioning jobs from energy polluting sectors to clean energy sectors is one way of approaching the problem. Even better, the youth can be galvanized to innovate the world's next revolution - the clean energy revolution. It is high time both private and public sectors come together to cooperate, innovate, and inspire.
